In 'onyx', photographer adrienne raquel explores the intensity and escapism of the nightclub experience, documenting the power of the performers at houston’s famed club onyx. Photographed over the course of 2020, 'onyx' displays the empowerment and inclusivity in clubs that society has ignored. Photographer and art director adrienne raquel is back in houston, only half an hour from the famed strip club onyx, whose dancers are the subject of her upcoming exhibition at fotografiska on Adrienne raquel’s onyx is a beautiful and intimate portrayal of the performers at the eponymous (and iconic) houston nightclub, where social taboos and misconceptions fly as freely as thrown dollar bills.
